1. The effects of sunlight on the skin<\/span><\/h2>\n

Visible light represents only a small part of the radiation emitted by the sun. In the non-visible spectrum, the sun emits three ultraviolet rays: UVA, UVB, and UVC.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"UVA rays, <\/b>with a wavelength of 320 to 400 nm, easily penetrate the ozone layer and the atmosphere and penetrate the dermis. They are responsible for <\/span>immediate tanning<\/b>, which appears after a few minutes but lasts only a few hours. They also cause <\/span>premature skin aging<\/b> and may play a role in the development of <\/span>certain cancers<\/b>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

UVB rays, <\/b>with a wavelength of 280 to 320 nm, only partially penetrate the ozone layer and only penetrate the protective layer of the epidermis. They enable the skin to <\/span>synthesize vitamin D<\/b>, which is essential to the proper functioning of our organisms and is responsible for long-term <\/span>tanning<\/b>. In the event of prolonged exposure, they cause inflammation of the skin, colloquially known as “sunburn.” They are also the <\/span>leading risk factor for skin canc<\/b>er<\/b>, ahead of UVA rays.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

UVC rays, with a <\/b>wavelength of 100 to 280 nm, do not penetrate the ozone layer and are primarily absorbed as soon as they reach the atmosphere. Our atmosphere’s barrier is indispensable, as <\/span>UVC rays are the most dangerous for all li<\/b>fe forms<\/b>. They are artificially produced for their biocidal properties to purify drinking water.<\/p>\n

Essential for life, the sun is nonetheless dangerous if exposed to it repeatedly or for long periods.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

2. Sun protection: essential for any exposure to the sun<\/span><\/h2>\n

Adequate sun protection is simply crucial<\/b>. Creams, milks, oils, or lotions in bottles or sprays should be applied before tanning sessions and regularly after prolonged sun exposure.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
